It's no secret that I've had weight loss surgery and that my life has been dramatically changed for the better. In fact, I will be accomplishing one of the original goals I set before surgery tomorrow night: to walk into my 20th high school reunion looking good, feeling good, and having lost the weight that defined my childhood. I am so thankful that my insurance covered this procedure, and that I was lucky enough to make this my reality.
Others are not quite as fortunate, though. Take Connie, for example. Connie has been denied for the surgery THREE TIMES. In the past six years Connie has been turned down for weight loss
surgery three more times because her health insurance exempts it. Connie
suffers from type-2 Diabetes, arthritis, hypertension and several other
health issues related to her morbid obesity. Connie needs surgery on
both of her knees, she has very limited mobility, exercise is difficult
and on some days impossible. She is on limited means, insurance will not cover this life-changing surgery, and the Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America is now working to help get Connie the surgery she so desperately wants and needs.
It's easy to help the mission: join today. Membership is free, and it's easy to sign up and show your support. Plus, you are part of a community whose mission is to help other morbidly obese people tip the scales in the right direction. So many ways to help: become a member, volunteer an hour or two to help, make a financial donation, and just help us spread the word about the Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America. Promote us on Facebook, Twitter, by email - it only takes a few seconds!
My job as the Vice President of Public Relations is to work to give the WLS Foundation of America a public face and get the word out. As a gastric bypass post-operative "success story," I feel a responsibility to help to do just that. I want to pay-it-forward, and help others create their own success story. If we all just spend a little time working together, we can help to create many success stories and help people like Connie get the medical treatment and surgery they need and deserve.
Please join today!
Cheers,
